Funny faces, Fussy girl

Everleigh is the funnest little baby. She is typically so happy and smiley and just the best little baby. The past few days she has been teething and is still so fun, but goes from smiling to screaming in .000003 seconds. It's amazing. Seriously - laughing...screaming in pain...laughing again - so fast! I feel bad for her and nothing seems to help for more than a minute. Any suggestions would be helpful! I will try anything to make her feel better. Here are a few pictures of her playing in her crib while I tried to get some packing done. Moving in 5 days!!!

Cereal is Yummo?

Everleigh's first time eating cereal was pretty funny. These pictures are actually from the second time she had it and that went a little better. We at least got smiles the second time around. The first time she tried it she was very sleepy, we got a lot of blank stares and she spit ALL of it out. Seriously, not one swallow - a gag - but no swallowing. Try number 2 - mostly smiles, a lot of spitting, I think one swallow maybe, and then she was done - note the last picture. (We are moving and didn't want to get the highchair out of the box, so Bumbo it is for now. :) )

Give me that thing - I can do this.

There are these things attached to my body!!

Everleigh has discovered different parts of her body lately and it is so funny to watch her face when she finds something new. She found her feet about a month ago and now she loves to look at them and loves it even more when there are colorful socks or toys on her feet. About 2 weeks ago, she found her left ear while we were in the grocery store. She was rubbing her head and hit her ear and then grabbed it really hard and looked so confused. It was very cute. These pictures are from that day. She grabbed her left ear all day long. I'm still not sure she knows she has a right ear. I'll let you know when she discovers it!

What are those things on my feet!?

I love my little mouse...

...and looking at this pretty baby in the mirror.

There is something attached to my head, Mommy!

and something else attached to my leg!

For all you Moms of Super Babies out there...

I found this adorable and hilarious website for baby clothes. It's www.wrybaby.com . It has some halarious onesies and some funny gift books and other things for new parents. I love this onesie with the cape. They have one for boys and girls. This is the girls one. Check it out if you have time. A lot of the onesies made Cody and me laugh out loud - like the one that's at the bottom. Enjoy!

Our home, Our sauna

This past weekend was 4th of July weekend. Cody and I had planned on getting some packing done and hanging out at home for once instead of going out of town like we usually do with long weekends. Just one small problem with our plans - our house's temp was in the high 80's all weekend- about the same as it was outside. We woke up Saturday morning and it was in the high 70's so I turned the air off thinking maybe the pipes froze. Turned it back on that evening and it never got cooler. Cody tried to work on it and figured out the problem - it needed a new part. Being Saturday - and a 3 day weekend for everyone, this was not going to happen until Tuesday. Talk about a hot house! It was crazy miserable. So - when we were at home, which we tried not to be, we sat with 2 fans blowing on all of us and ate ice cream. Ice cream has never tasted so good!! I never realized how lazy you can be when you are so hot every second. I did not want to move away from the fan even for a second. I felt awful for Everleigh, who I think is even more hot natured than Cody, which says a lot. She was sweating all weekend even in just a diaper. Still not fussy, though. Our baby is a trooper! My question is - How do the Amish do it!? And in the long clothes they cover with!? I guess it's all in what you get used to. I can say I now appreciate my air conditioner in a whole new way! I am so thankful now for something I took for granted. I also learned a few things about air conditioners and considering I didn't even know where ours was located before now, that's a good thing!
Since we tried to leave the house for most of the weekend, we went furniture shopping! We bought a couch and chair for the new house!! YAY!! They don't come in for 8 weeks, but here's the fabric:

The middle gray is the couch with flowered pillows (hard to talk Cody in to) and the square pattern is for the chair. I'm so excited to be getting to decorate a new house!! I've never had my own house that I knew we were going to stay in so I could really decorate the way I want to. It's so much fun. I want to get really creative, and have to get creative, since we are on a tight budget, but that makes it more fun! I know it'll take years to get everything the way I want it, but I can't wait to get started. We start right after we close with the cabinets and painting. I'll be posting pictures as we change everything around. Stay tuned...

5 Months!

Our sweet baby girl is 5 months old and more fun every day (I think I say something like that every month, but it's true!) Here's what Everleigh's up to:
  • She sleeps around 10 hours at night with 2 naps - 1st nap is 2 hours, 2nd is 3 hours and sometimes a cat nap of about 15 minutes sometime later in the day
  • She is still staying with our friend, Katie, and playing with Anagail and Brody 2-3 days per week. I know she loves them!
  • She still eats 5 times per day, but one of those feedings has become more like a snack. She still takes 6-7 ounces for Katie.
  • She is the happiest baby and so funny. I love watching her face as she discovers something new.
  • She laughs every day now where it was a challenge to get a true laugh. She laughs the hardest when we kiss on her belly or cheeks.
  • She loves bathtime, sucking on her wash rag, and playing with all her bath toys.
  • She has gotten a lot more verbal. I can tell when it's time for a nap now. She used to not fuss for anything - not even naps or to eat. Now she makes little noises to tell me it's time for something, but I still wouldn't call it fussing.
  • She still hates tummy time - it really doesn't last long but we try a few times a day.
  • She likes to sit up and still LOVES to stand.
  • She will sit for 10-15 seconds on her own before toppling over.
  • We have tried rice cereal once on the day she turned 5 months. Didn't go over so well, but I was trying to be really healthy and tried Whole Grain organic rice - maybe that's why she spit it all out or maybe it was b/c it was her first time eating anything besides milk. We're going to try again every few days and I'm sure she'll get better at it.
  • She loves her medicine (Prevacid) and cries when I take it out of her mouth. She tries to grab the syringe from me every time.
  • She also loves my Camelbak water bottle. I think maybe this is b/c she takes a bottle now at Katie's and she sees me drinking out of something that resembles a bottle. She will hold it and cry at the bottle like it needs to do something. It's really funny.
  • She's wearing 6 month clothes, size 2 diaper and size 1-2 shoe. She's quickly outgrowing all of these sizes and won't be in any of them much longer.
  • Because she naps in her crib every day, she doesn't nap well when we're out any more, which makes it hard to go places all day long. I LOVE that she wants to nap in her crib, but it makes church days hard and other days we want to be gone all day hard. She will nap a little in the car but not for long.
  • She's very talkative - she wakes up talking, talks herself to sleep, talks in the car, stops nursing to talk...and so the babbling begins. I love hearing all her noises!
  • She is a very distractable nurser - any noise in the house and she stops eating and looks at me with wide eyes. It's very cute, but hard to get a full feeding in when she wants to play. I hear this gets worse.
5 months has gone by in a flash! We have loved every second of it!

Everleigh is very ready for our trip to Disney World in Novemeber. So ready that she found my old mouse ears and put them on. Isn't she cute in them?

Movin' on up!!

We are officially moving to Franklin! Yay us! We are thrilled to be moving in general and thrilled to be buying and moving out of the house we've been renting. It slightly sad just because this was the first house we had Everleigh in and where we brought her home from the hospital to, but really - we are SO glad to be out of here! Here are a few pictures of the new house. We close in about 3 weeks. I have so many plans for this house and I can't wait to make it our own and put our own personal touches on it. I will update with new pictures once we've redecorated. This is not our furniture in the pictures.

4 years ago today...

...I married my best friend. I know that sounds so cliche, but it's true. And it's been the best 4 years of my life. Thanks for promising forever to me, baby! I love you!
