Our home, Our sauna

This past weekend was 4th of July weekend. Cody and I had planned on getting some packing done and hanging out at home for once instead of going out of town like we usually do with long weekends. Just one small problem with our plans - our house's temp was in the high 80's all weekend- about the same as it was outside. We woke up Saturday morning and it was in the high 70's so I turned the air off thinking maybe the pipes froze. Turned it back on that evening and it never got cooler. Cody tried to work on it and figured out the problem - it needed a new part. Being Saturday - and a 3 day weekend for everyone, this was not going to happen until Tuesday. Talk about a hot house! It was crazy miserable. So - when we were at home, which we tried not to be, we sat with 2 fans blowing on all of us and ate ice cream. Ice cream has never tasted so good!! I never realized how lazy you can be when you are so hot every second. I did not want to move away from the fan even for a second. I felt awful for Everleigh, who I think is even more hot natured than Cody, which says a lot. She was sweating all weekend even in just a diaper. Still not fussy, though. Our baby is a trooper! My question is - How do the Amish do it!? And in the long clothes they cover with!? I guess it's all in what you get used to. I can say I now appreciate my air conditioner in a whole new way! I am so thankful now for something I took for granted. I also learned a few things about air conditioners and considering I didn't even know where ours was located before now, that's a good thing!
Since we tried to leave the house for most of the weekend, we went furniture shopping! We bought a couch and chair for the new house!! YAY!! They don't come in for 8 weeks, but here's the fabric:

The middle gray is the couch with flowered pillows (hard to talk Cody in to) and the square pattern is for the chair. I'm so excited to be getting to decorate a new house!! I've never had my own house that I knew we were going to stay in so I could really decorate the way I want to. It's so much fun. I want to get really creative, and have to get creative, since we are on a tight budget, but that makes it more fun! I know it'll take years to get everything the way I want it, but I can't wait to get started. We start right after we close with the cabinets and painting. I'll be posting pictures as we change everything around. Stay tuned...
